Fair Housing | Self-Paced V.2027

The fair housing compliance training program is designed to upgrade the understanding of real estate professionals about fair housing history and laws and to provide a real-life context that improves compliance with fair housing laws. 

This course:

  • Includes a brief overview of historical policies that led to racial segregation and persistent housing discrimination in the U.S. today, and documents some of the ongoing costs of segregation.
  • Provides a refresher on key components of federal, state, and local fair housing laws that apply to housing and housing-related transactions, and it contains many real-life examples of how discrimination occurs in the day-to-day real estate process. 
  • Gives overview of property management requirements, with updates on prevalent issues such as assistance animals, sexual harassment, source of income, and criminal records. 
  • Outlines the enforcement process for housing discrimination complaints and lays out ten ways to prevent housing discrimination. 

This class is approved for 4 hours of Illinois elective continuing education credit.
